Scientific Research

When evaluating the science supporting a product, it’s important to ascertain the level of testing, with the most detailed level being double-blind placebo controlled clinical trials. These trials are then published in independent peer- reviewed medical, pharmacology and health journals.

Rose-Hip Vital® with GOPO® is supported by over 30 scientific papers, including 9 double-blind placebo controlled clinical trials. Manufactured in Denmark by Hyben Vital, it is acknowledged as the leader in the field of Rosehip manufactured as a natural anti-inflammatory. The respected international researcher, Robin Christensen, author of Rosehip powder Meta-analysis – emphasises that it is only the Rosehip preparation manufactured by Hyben Vital, Denmark that has been the subject of testing in clinical trials.

Therapeutic claims for complementary therapies need to be supported by scientific evidence found in clinical trials and scientific studies. In order to make a claim, the scientific research must relate specifically to the product. Other rosehip products referring to the research supporting Rose-Hip Vital® with GOPO®  are not able to make the same claims as they do not use the same patented manufacturing processes.

GOPO® – A Vital Difference

Thanks to patented extraction and drying processes, Rose-Hip Vital® Canine contains the active compound GOPO® (glycoside of mono and diglycerol).

Some white blood cells contain granulocytes which enable them to ‘clean’ an inflamed joint by destroying the bacteria in it.  Too many of these white blood cells wear down tissue cartilage. In large numbers they can also produce chemical enzymes and toxic free-radicals which cause even more tissue damage. Accumulation of white blood cells combined with the release of chemical substances causes joint pain and inflammation. The more inflamed a joint becomes, the more the white blood cells are attracted to it – a painful cycle.

GOPO® discourages large numbers of white blood cells from accumulating in the joint, thereby breaking the cycle of joint inflammation and alleviating pain associated with mild arthritis.

THE SCIENCE

Further evidence of the effectiveness of GOPO® on Osteoarthritis was reported; 66% of patients taking Rose-Hip Vital® with GOPO® reported a reduction in joint pain. Interestingly, patients also reported an improvement in general wellbeing, including mood, sleep quality and energy.

Phytomedicine 2004

A presentation by Joseph Schwager, Phd, at the APLAR conference Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology conference in Japan titled The Galactolipid GOPO Mediates Beneficial Effects of Rose Hip on Arthritis by Reducing Chemokine and Interleukin Production in Macrophages and Chondrocytes, showed that an active compound, when isolated from the Rosehip, may play a role in assisting in the rebuilding and protection of cartilage.

Aplar 2008

A study released by Arasalan Kharazmi, Phd, at OARSI (Osteoarthritis Research Society International) – Laboratory and preclinical studies on the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties of rosehip powder – Identification and characterisation of the active component GOPO® – demonstrate through assessment of in vitro studies that rosehip powder exhibits anti-inflammatory as well as anti-oxidant activities.

Oarsi 2008

A trial published in the Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology – A Powder made from seeds and shells of Rosehip Subspecies (Rosa Canina L) reduces the symptoms of Knee and Hip Osteoarthritis: a Randomised, Double-Blind, Placebo Controlled Trial – showed that 82% of patients reported a reduction in pain after 3 weeks of active treatment with GOPO®. Pain was alleviated to such an extent that 40% reduced their consumption of parecetamol.

Improve your joint health and wellbeing

Reduce inflammation, protect cartilage and boost immunity

Rose-Hip Vital® with GOPO® is made from Rosehips manufactured with patented extraction and drying processes, it’s a scientifically and clinically tested plant-based anti-inflammatory that may be used to relieve and prevent joint pain, stiffness, inflammation and swelling associated with mild arthritis, to improve joint health.

Patented manufacturing processes isolate the active compound GOPO® which has scientifically and clinically tested anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. GOPO® works by stopping excess white blood cells from gathering around inflamed tissue, thereby helping to break the cycle of inflammation to relieve mild joint symptoms of mild arthritis. Rosehip products that do not contain GOPO® have not been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
